Help Fund Bobbie’s Brain Tumour Radiotherapy
Beschermde donatie
My name is Bobbie, I’m a Staffordshire bull terrier and the life and soul of my house. I am the kindest, sweetest girl, and love nothing more than a soft toy and to be fussed by people. I am a big cuddle bug.
I have cancer, a rare brain tumour called a trigeneral nerve sheath tumour, which has caused almost complete muscle atrophy (muscle loss) in one side of my face. That’s why my face looks odd, but mum says I’m still as beautiful as ever. I am not in any pain at the moment, but the tumour will continue to grow and will likely cause seizures and other complications and will end my life if I don’t get treatment. There is also a secondary mass in my ear which has caused me to go deaf in that ear.
I am on a high dose of steroids to try and help with inflammation.
The tumour is inoperable due to its location but the specialists have told me I am a very good candidate for a special type of radiotherapy. There is only one place in the country that can do the radiotherapy I need and they unfortunately come at a very high cost. £13,000 is the cost for the radiotherapy alone.
Radiotherapy would hopefully shrink the tumour and extend my life. My quality of life is still very good so I need the treatment as soon as possible before it gets worse.
My mum has been a responsible doggy mum and has pet insurance but it’s not enough to cover the expensive treatment. So far I have had numerous consultations and an MRI scan, so the bills are already approaching £3000.
I am still a happy, bouncy, full of life staffie and it’s not my time to say goodbye yet. Cancer has affected mums life in a big way - she has lost every one of her previous dogs to cancer, and she lost her own mum to cancer when she was a teenager. Now that we have an opportunity to fight cancer please let’s do this together.
My mum says she would happily give me some of her years but as that’s not an option, she is doing whatever she can to help raise the money for my treatment.
Mum has struggled for many years with mental health issues, and our doggy family has given her a reason to live - so she says she owes us her life. She has tried every other way to raise money to pay for my treatment, so the last option she has is to ask you kind people to help me. She has never done a fundraiser before, so she is having faith that the kindness and generosity of the doggy loving public will come through for me. Let’s stand united, and help me fight cancer.
I know the cost of living crisis is affecting us all, so even if all you can manage is a few pounds, or you sacrifice one of your Starbucks or Costa coffees this week and put that money towards my treatment, I will be forever grateful and I will be sending lots of good doggy karma back at you for your kindness. Please help me.
