اسمي يوسف، وأطلب مساعدتكم لإنقاذ بصر امى.

امى تفقد بصرها تدريجيًا بسبب مرض نادر فى العين، والوقت ينفد لإنقاذ ما تبقى من قدرتها على الرؤية.

تعاني والدتي من مرض نادر وخطير يُعرف باسم

Macular Telangiectasia Type 2

، ويؤثر على كلتا عينيها.

للأسف، تضررت الشبكية و جزء من خلايا المستقبلات الضوئية لديها بشكل دائم بالفعل. ولحسن الحظ، ما زالت قادرة على أداء المهام اليومية، لكن ذلك قد يتغير قريبًا.

لا يزال هناك أمل في الحفاظ على بصرها إذا تمكنت من تلقي

العلاج في أسرع وقت ممكن.

أمي ليست مجرد مريضة… إنها أم لثلاثة أبناء، من بينهم أنا. وهي أيضًا الراعية الأساسية لأخي الأصغر أدهم. أدهم مصاب بالتوحد، غير ناطق، ويعاني من صعوبات تعلم ونوبات صرع، وهو يعتمد عليها بشكل كامل في رعايته اليومية ودعمه.

كل يوم نعيش سباقًا مع الزمن، لأن المرض يزداد سوءًا بشكل تدريجي. وأي تأخير قد يؤدي إلى مزيد من الضرر ويقضي على فرصة إنقاذ بصرها.

العلاج المطلوب غير متوفر حاليًا وغير معتمد في المملكة المتحدة بسبب تكلفته الباهظة للغاية. ووفقًا للأطباء، فإن إجراءات اعتماده في بريطانيا قد تستغرق سنوات طويلة، هذا إن قررت NHS

السعي لاعتماده ، وللأسف أُبلغنا الاطباء أنه ليس من المتوقع أن يحدث ذلك في

المستقبل القريب.

حاليًا، العلاج معتمد ومتوفر فقط في الولايات المتحدة، ولذلك فإن خيارنا الوحيد هو سفر والدتي إلى هناك لتلقي العلاج قبل

فوات الأوان.

أمي أقوى امرأة أعرفها. لقد مرت بالكثير كأم. كنت طفلًا كثير المشاكل، وكانت دائمًا موجودة لتحمل كل تصرفاتي ومساعدتي. هي من ربتني لأصبح الشخص الذى وصلت له اليوم، ولن أستطيع أبدًا أن أرد لها الجميل كما تستحق. كل ما أتمناه هو أن تحصل على فرصة للحفاظ على بصرها وأن تواصل حياتها بكرامة. فكرة أنها قد لا تتمكن يومًا من رؤية أولادى مستقبلا تؤلمني بشدة، ولا أستطيع أن أسمح بحدوث ذلك.

أي تبرع، مهما كان بسيطًا، سيصنع فرقًا حقيقيًا بالنسبة لنا. وإذا لم تتمكنوا من التبرع، فإن مشاركة هذه الحملة قد تساعدنا في الوصول إلى شخص يستطيع المساعدة.

Help save my mum's vision

My name is Youssef, and I'm asking for your help to save my mother’s vision.

My mother is gradually losing her vision to a rare eye disease, and we are running out of time to save what remains of her sight.

My mother has a rare and serious eye disease called Macular Telangiectasia Type 2, affecting both her eyes.

Sadly, parts of her retina and of her photoreceptors cells has already been permanently damaged; Thankfully, she can still manage to do everyday tasks, but that could change soon.

There is still hope to preserve her vision if she can receive treatment ASAP.

My mother is not only a patient…

She's a mother of 3, including me. She's the primary caregiver for my younger brother, Adham. Adham is autistic, nonverbal, and suffers from learning difficulties and seizures; he depends completely on her for his daily care and support.

Every day, we are racing against time as the disease is progressively worsening. Any delay could cause further damage and ruin the chances of saving her sight.

The required treatment is not currently available nor approved in the UK due to its extremely high cost. According to the doctors, the UK approval process could take many years, and that's if the NHS pursues approval for this treatment; sadly, we've been told that the NHS are not expected to pursue it anytime soon or at all.

Currently, the treatment is only approved and available in the United States. Thus, our only option is for my mother to travel to the US to receive the treatment before it's too late.

She's the strongest woman I know; she has gone through so much as a mother. I was such a problem child, and she was always there to deal with all my antics! She raised me to be the person I am today, and I can never do enough to pay it back. I am just hoping she gets the chance to preserve her sight and continue living with dignity. The thought that she might not get to see my future kids pains me to no end; I can't let that happen.
