My name is Clarissa Burrow, and I am a college student at Bridgewater,
where I ride on the IHSA team. For the past 7 years, I have shared my
life with my horse, Mr. Fox, who was a rescue. He has been my partner through so many ups and downs, and I cannot imagine life without him. Recently, Mr. Fox fell critically ill and is currently hospitalized at the Marion duPont Scott Equine Medical Center in Leesburg, Virginia. His diagnosis so far is bacterial
gastritis and a failing immune system. His white blood cell count is down by 500% leaving him extremely vulnerable to any harmful bacteria and viruses as his body continues to reject medication and improved treatments.
I work three jobs to support myself while paying for school, housing, food, and insurance. On top of that, I trade farm work in exchange for Mr. Fox’s board to make sure he has a good home. Despite all of this, I simply cannot cover the unexpected and urgent costs of his hospitalization on my own.
I am desperately asking for help from friends, family, and anyone. The current estimate is $8,200 and rising.
