Our world has been turned upside down.
Our beloved son Danny is only 6 years old. He has special needs and depends on us every single day for care, protection, and support. In a heartbreaking accident, Danny consumed a highly corrosive chemical — sodium hydroxide — a powerful substance commonly found in commercial kitchen cleaning products (oven cleaner).
In a matter of moments, our lives changed forever.
Danny is currently fighting for his life at Sydney Children's Hospital Randwick, Building B, B1N children intensive care Unit bed no 28.
The chemical caused devastating internal burns to his food pipe (esophagus), airway, left lung, and part of his stomach. The injuries are severe and life-threatening. He has been on a ventilator for five days, with a breathing tube to help him breathe and a feeding tube because he cannot swallow or eat on his own.
To manage his immense pain and allow his body to cope with the trauma, doctors have kept him sedated. As parents, watching our 6-year-old baby lying unconscious, surrounded by machines and tubes, is the most painful and helpless experience of our lives.
The doctors are currently waiting for the internal swelling to go down before they can complete further assessments. They have told us to prepare for multiple critical surgeries. This will not be one operation — it will be a long and complex medical journey. We have also been informed that Danny may face lifelong medical challenges, including ongoing medications and regular hospital visits.
We are devastated. We are living through a nightmare that no parent should ever have to face.
The cost of multiple surgeries, intensive care, long-term treatment, medications, and continuous follow-up appointments will place an overwhelming financial burden on our family. At this heartbreaking time, we are reaching out for help to save our son’s life.
Any donation, no matter how small, will go directly toward Danny’s surgeries, medical treatment, and ongoing care. If you are unable to donate, please consider sharing his story and keeping him in your prayers.
We are holding onto hope with everything we have. We believe in miracles. And we believe that with your kindness and support, Danny can have a fighting chance at life.
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for standing with us during this unimaginable time.
