For years I've struggled with Sleep Apnea. Despite using a CPAP machine, my condition seem to worsen. In September of 2016, I was put on medical leave for excessive day time sleepiness. A month later I was diagnosis with Hypersolmnolence and insomnia, two addition sleep disorders. These 3 sleep disorders causes strong sudden urges to sleep, cognitive impairment during periods of drowsiness and extreme fatigue. Additionally, in May 2017, I was diagnosis with Osteoarthritis in both knees and they need to be replaced.
Part of the cause of my sleep problems was due to abnormalities with my tonsils, adenoids, and soft tissues in the throat. In April of 2018 I had my second operation to solve these problems. Although the surgery was successful, I caught an infection that lead to my hospitalization and caused congestive heart failure.
I filed for Social Security Disability and after a 2 1/2 year fight was denied. Even though I have an over 30 year work history, including 23 years with 1 employer.
At the same time, my employer refused to accept me back to work on light-duty work.
By this time, all my savings and long term insurance was depleted in September 2018. Since my employer informed me that they no longer have a position for me because of my work restrictions, I filed for unemployment so that I could have the means to pay for living expenses while I complete needed medical treatments to return to full health. However, my employer challenged my claim and I was denied. This has left my wife and I without any source of income beside the part-time job my wife was able to start in October 2018. (My wife had not worked since 2005 because of health problems including 2 battles with cancer.) Since then friends and families have generously cared for our needs. This has become an increasing burden on them that we wish to alleviate.
My goal is to return to my employer in full health within 3 months. I need clearance from my doctors, who I have appointments scheduled with over the next 2 months. We are in desperate need of $1,350.00 immediately to cover our rent and utilities for February. We also need an additional $2,250.00 to help us cover rent and utilities for March and April. With your help we will be able to avoid homelessness.
