Please help us to recover from our stolen Uhaul

Hi my name is Kathleen Carney Zini,

I created this page first, to bring attention to a situation that happened to our family. We were in the process of moving from Florida to Alabama for my husband’s work. We had to stop for the night and stayed at the Marriott in Macon, Ga. We felt that the Marriott seemed to be a nice and a safe place for the night. To our shock and dismay when we woke up the next morning our Uhaul truck was missing. It didn’t sink in that it was actually stolen until we spoke to the police officer in the lobby.  Our entire lives were on that truck. 

We filed a police report but I’m doubtful that we will get any of our belongs back. The investigator in our case said this has happened before in that area and they usually will find the Uhaul completely empty a few days later. I can’t tell you how heartbroken I am to have this happen especially just before Christmas. Everything we own is on that truck, all of our clothes, furniture, appliances, piano, our girls clothes , shoes, toys, (Christmas gifts) family photos, family heirlooms, literally everything. There are some things that are just not replaceable like my daughters projects and achievements from preschool, my husband’s private pilot’s flight logs, my grandmother’s (who is no longer with us) cookbook that was passed on to me and so many other things, it’s too much to list here. 

The police did recover video footage from the hotel and our truck was taken at 11:30pm so it was only in the parking lot for 2 hours. The police did say it was likely a very organized group and apparently this is something that happens often in that area. 

Our story has covered by three local stations in Macon but I feel this should be brought to the attention of people on a national level at least to those crossing state lines and especially for anyone coming into Georgia.

We hope through our GoFundMe page we can at least replace some essential items like clothing and shoes for our family. Personal care and bath products, mattresses, bedding, towels, cooking and dish ware, etc. 

We also hope to still give our girls a nice Christmas considering what has happened to us.
