Beloved Greenwich Village restaurant Uncle Ted’s Chinese Cuisine located at 163 Bleecker Street burned to the ground on May 22nd, 2021, and while thankfully there was no loss of life, the economic loss has been devastating.

The fire wrecked half of the building, destroying not only Uncle Ted’s, but 40 years of a Chinese restaurant at this spot.
Thanks to the heroic efforts of the FDNY, the fire was snuffed out in 5 hours.
200 firefighters from around the city came to battle the blaze, the cause of which is still under investigation.
Two firefighters were injured and transported to area hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries. Thanks to their heroics the fire was stopped dead in its tracks.

Uncle Ted’s has received a ton of support and encouragement from every sector of society. This has touched our hearts and spurred us to move forward and rebuild! We are working on relocating in the same area with the same chefs and staff, so one day soon, we’ll be serving you the food you love with the quality you’ve come to expect.
We are initiating a GoFundMe campaign with a slightly different spin to it. All donated funds will help us to rebuild Uncle Ted’s as fast as possible so we can resume operations. It will also help us support our staff at this very difficult juncture in their lives. Many of them are their household’s sole breadwinners and are facing dire circumstances because of this incident. To show our gratitude for your support we will send you a gift voucher equal to the amount of your donation for use at Uncle Ted’s once we are up and running. This voucher is fully transferable.
