Help to rebuild School 62 in Kharkiv, Ukraine

Donation protected
This school is located on the Northern tip of Kharkiv in the sub area called Pyatihatki. School principal Alexander Grianyk with partially destroyed school’s premises on the background addressing to the school alumni:

“I appeal to the students and graduates of the Kharkiv Specialized - with in-depth study of foreign languages - School number 62, from all of the 62 years that our school has existed:

My Dearest,

Your childhood home, the fortress of your happy childhood is destroyed. Destroyed by savage, senseless, and cruel Russcist inhumans. No one can ever explain or justify this barbarism.

In these walls you learned about the world, here you fell in love, here you were coached to your lives by Olha Mikhailovna Koval, Betty Saulivna Gaft, Maria Petrivna Martynova, Zinaida Denysivna Lutsenko, Ivan Ivanovych Tkachenko, Vadim Valentinovych Husakov and hundreds of wonderful teachers. Here you were taught to dream, here you were taught to be strong, here you were always welcome.

Dearest children. It so happened that many of you have relatives who live in the country that has caused this disaster. Ask them: what for? For our right to have our own country? For our desire to have our own language, our own song, our own culture? For our respect of world culture?

They destroyed our school, destroyed its classrooms, the school corridors, the library, the medical office, the stadium and the swimming pool. They smashed the door to our living room, but the living room survived. It is whole. It shines. And from here we will start, together with you, the rebirth of our school and we will most certainly bring it back to life.

I am in the place where a board once hung, on which words so holy for us, Ukrainians, had been written. I am sure that this board will undoubtably hang in this hall again, and these words will echo many times, both here and throughout Ukraine:

"I am a people whose strength of Truth

Has not been conquered by anyone.

What troubles, what plague had mowed me down,

But whose power blossomed again.

To live - I do not beg that right.

To live - all shackles shall I break

I claim and I affirm,

For I am alive. "

Pavlo Tychyna

We will revive our school, and this school bell will surely gather all of you within our school walls. We await you. We love you.
