Hello, My name is Javonnie Frazer, I'm a Jamaican national, currently living in the United Kingdom. I'm doing this fundraising to help provide the necessary supplies for my home town to rebuild after Hurricane Melissa.
It has been widely reported that the category 5 hurricane was the strongest recorded to ever make landfall in the Atlantic, causing widespread devastation throughout the Caribbean, with Jamaica being the hardest hit. Unfortunately, my home town, Darliston, Westmoreland, was in the direct path of this natural disaster, causing scores of lives to be lost, hurricane shelters damaged and a great multitude of families left homeless.
The Jamaican government, along with a number of non-profit organizations, have been helping in this crisis but it's near impossible for them to reach everyone, due to the share magnitude of the damage that was caused.
My family, consisting of my mother, brother, 2 sisters and 3 nephews (one being only 5 months old), have been left homeless and they are just one of the hundreds of families left without the basic necessities for survival; such as food, water, electricity and shelter from the elements.
The donations given on this platform, will be used to assist my family, among others, impacted by this catastrophic storm, to provide food, drinking water and to help commence rebuilding habitable homes for people left homeless in the community of Darliston.
No contribution is too small, every little helps. Thank you for your support in this time of need.
