Hi, My name is Ellie Stockton and I am fundraising money for my mother's medical bills. My mom, Sherry, is the most amazing person in my eyes. She has been a single mom for the last 18 years and works a full-time job. She is 63 years old with the biggest heart on the planet. She contracted COVID on Nov. 17th, it didn’t truly start affecting her badly until the week of Thanksgiving. Over the weekend of Thanksgiving, she became critical and was taken to the hospital at UNC and admitted to the MICU. She has been on continuous oxygen and steroids/antibiotics in order to help her fight the infection. Her lungs are severely damaged and it will take a very long time for them to heal. However, she has been in the MICU for about 3 weeks and it still doesn’t seem as though she will be leaving any time soon. She has now been put on a ventilator after being at the hospital for 2 weeks. She is expected to be in the hospital for a least a few months (end of February). This is going to be a very long road for her recovery but hopefully, she fights her way back to good health.
I am a 20-year-old, full-time college student and only child, and my mom is my absolute best friend. These past few weeks have been very difficult and have been a roller coaster. I have been trying to take care of everything with the support of family and friends. However, I am starting to get worried about being able to stay afloat while she is still in the hospital. Since she is expected to be in the hospital for months, the expenses are going to be very high even with insurance. I am having to pay the remaining nightly costs of her hospital room and tests being taken after insurance which is adding up very quickly. I also must continue to pay for the house/living bills and food.
Thank you for all of your support and anything helps :)
