Hello, my name is Amy-Loren and I brought Lucy home from the OSPCA (likely the runt of the litter!) as a 10 week old ball of adorable wrinkles in 2012. One of 73 dogs rescued from a puppy mill in Lucknow, ON, she immediately captured our hearts and became a cherished family member.

Unfortunately, this little "lemon" has been quite expensive. While still a puppy, she had to have surgery for a prolapsed third eyelid (aka "cherry eye") on not one, but both eyes. Since then, she has developed additional eye issues, skin issues, and now as a senior, kidney disease and osteoarthritis.

In addition to the occasional treatments and surgeries for "accidents" (she's been bitten twice by other dogs, has chewed apart the downspout chasing a chipmunk, has sliced the skin above her eye multiple times, developed a mysterious "hole" in her gum and broken multiple teeth), Lucy has multiple medications to keep her healthy. We give her daily allergy and pain management pills along with 3 eye medications, as well as special kidney food, and she receives a monthly injection for Osteoarthritis. And yes... the infamous "wonky paw" does sometimes create problems, getting infected. As you can imagine, this is costly and I have had a hard time paying off her increasing vet bills recently.

In spite of her high-maintenance lifestyle, Lucy is the most easy-going, sweet dog I have met and I will be forever grateful for the unconditional love and friendship she has provided. She loves coming to the ball diamonds with me to see all of her "boyfriends" (she loves everyone, but boy, does she favour the guys!!) and she gets attention everywhere she goes. She enjoys our road trips together, but she is also quite content sunbathing or curling up on her spot on the couch.

I understand that most all of us are struggling financially right now, so I don't want anyone to feel pressured to donate. If you would like to, though, funds will be used exclusively to pay off Lucy's outstanding balance, and it would mean so much to me and Lucy, aka "Lucy May", "Lucy May Shar-Pei", "DJ Shar-Pei", "Lucy Goosey", "Luce the Moose", "Luce Moose Winooski", "House Hippo", "Po Po"....
