Help to mark my 10th anniversary in dog rescue ❤️
Want to join me in making a difference? I'm raising money to benefit Saving and Rehoming Strays SCIO, and any donation will help make an impact. Thanks in advance for your contribution to this cause that means so much to me.
I cannot believe that next month it will be 10 whole years since I first started rescuing dogs from Romania
Back then I was married, had my own business, lots of friends and lived a very comfortable life.
I lived in a lovely big 4 bedroomed detatched house, drove fancy cars and collected art. I ate out more than I cooked and although I worked hard I had a great life …
All that changed one day though when a chance google search lead me to a site showing the plight of dogs in a Romanian shelter.
That and a comment I saw on a t-shirt which read
“I always thought someone should do something about that, and then I realised I am that someone” …
From that day I knew my life would never be the same, but had no idea quite the journey it would take me on.
It has seen me live for nearly a year in a caravan with no electric or running water on an equestrian centre in Essex, in a falling down farmhouse in Scotland and finally now in a purpose built rescue centre which is (or will be) beyond my wildest dreams.
I no longer drive fancy cars and my bank account is barely in the black. Most of my art collection has been sold to pay for dog transports and surgeries. My husband is long gone and I can’t remember the last time I had a day off or saw my family, but during the last 10 years I have rescued over 2500 dogs.
Most of these dogs that other rescuers would not give a second glance at let alone rescue. Some have been old, some blind, some paralysed, lots sick and most scared or traumatised.
Many have been large family groups of multiple pups and their mums, as we never leave a mum behind if it can be helped.
I have seen the very best and the very worst of humanity and despite lots people trying to destroy my work, I am still here, still going strong and still saving the lives of these dogs and know in my heart I’ll still be doing this until the day I die.
The new DC still needs lots of work doing and what I would love to do more than anything to celebrate this massive milestone in my rescue life is to try to raise £1.00 per dog for every life I have saved.
I know not ever adopter follows the group, but if every adopter and supporter that does could make a donation to help other dogs live the life their own dogs now live we could hit that target in no time or even smash it out of the water.
I know not everyone can make the commitment I have made to these dogs, but if everyone I know could spare a few pounds it would make all the sacrifices I have had to make to do this even more worthwhile ❤️❤️❤️
Thank you in advance xx
