Ten years ago, Alycen and Dan did something most of us would not be able/willing to do: When Alycen's mother, Stacia, had a stroke that left her permanently in a wheelchair, and in need of full-time nursing care, Alycen and Dan didn’t think twice: They moved Stacia in with them and retrofitted their rental house as best they could afford, and carried on. Since then, Alycen has made all arrangements for care, while also working full-time and getting her advance degree in applied behavioral analysis. She now works with children with special needs (autism or ADHD) and their families. Both Dan and Alycen have worked tirelessly to give Stacia a loving—and physically manageable—home, all while working, studying...and navigating a pandemic.
Now, they need our help. They have been forced to move from the home they’ve made hospitable for Stacia because the owner is selling. They have purchased a small home (no small feat in itself) and need to make it handicap accessible, with a ramp and other modifications inside. They are trying to raise $20,000 to get this done. If ever two people need our help and support, they do. It takes a village... And while Alycen, Dan, and Stacia have been doing it on their own for ten years, this is a moment, if there ever was one, when they need help from their family, friends, and community.
Please consider making a donation to this family that has been through so much and is struggling to make a home for themselves. Your contribution would be so greatly appreciated.
