Recovery after Sepsis and weight loss to walk again unaided

Donation protected
My name is Mark and after a near fatal car accident I was left with poor circulation in my legs due to an 'open book' fracture of my pelvis and femur. Due to the poor circulation I developed leg ulcers some years ago and these have refused to heal, due in large part to my weight. I have been in compression bandaging for nigh on 3 years but healing has been minimal. This is despite twice weekly appointments and dressing changes.

Having these open wounds has left me vulnerable to Cellulitis and Sepsis, the most recent being in November last year where I was bedridden for 3 months. As a result I lost the muscle in my legs and have been learning to walk again ever since.

Over the years I have tried numerous diet plans but it wasn't until the recent injection therapies that I have found some success. In fact, I have lost 3.5 Stone since July this year! Being unable to work though, I just cannot afford the cost and despite several requests I cannot be prescribed via the NHS!

So my last hope is to appeal to the kindness of other people. All I can promise in return, is that I shall remain committed to losing weight and improving my mobility. I'm walking with crutches but hopefully I will eventually walk unaided when I have lost enough weight. My ultimate goal is to lose a further 50kgs so I have a way to go!

Anyway, thank you so much for helping me to make the most of my life and get my weight under control.

Thank You!

Mark

Well it has been almost 6 months and the improvements to my health have been remarkable. My circulation in my legs has improved to the point that the skin is healing. The ulcers have also nearly healed and they have been there for years!
The weight loss has meant that I can finally find some clothes that fit and that certainly helps self esteem. I'm just over half way to my total weight loss goal but I'm trying to be slow and consistent in losing the weight. I'm mindful of needing to stop the Mounjaro eventually, so I need to make changes to my diet and any bad habits.
Thank you again to anyone willing and able to help me financially. I wish I wasn't dependent upon the kindness of others but I'm also mindful of being in my later life. Anyway, thank you again. Mark.

Well I just had to make another hole in my belt! I'm also wearing jeans instead of awful jogging bottoms. I can fit quite a few old clothes but there's still a way to go. I feel incredibly lucky that there are people prepared to help me. I hope that I can eventually play that kindness forward. I really want to get back to working this year.
My legs and feet are still improving but I'm concerned about losing muscle mass. Especially as I progress with walking. I't's hard to get myself out walking in this rain and wind but I want to make the most of the opportunity you've given me. Thank you! Mark
