I am sure that you have heard sad stories of all kinds, from people more deserving than us. I come to you now, hat in hand and heart in throat.
I collected what I had left after the crash of 2008, sold what I could and set off on a quest to reset my life. Financial woes split up my marriage of 17 years. We split amicably, divided our assets and I took what I had and sailed for the horizon.
I ended up in Panama where I managed to support myself delivering yachts internationally and repairing vessels when I could. I met my new wife while visiting Cartagena while picking up a boat for delivery to Texas. We soon married and she and her children joined me in Panama.
After receiving an offer to come to the Shelter Bay Marina at the Panama Canal, we departed from where we had been. Adverse weather and bad luck turned against us. Our sails were damaged and our engine overheated to it's demise. We were towed into the marina only to learn that the gentleman who had made the offer for us to come and work was not in fact authorized to make said offer. Now, almost one year hence, we find ourselves some $4,000 in arrears to the marina. I have flown to Florida to search for better employment opportunities leaving my Venezuelan bride and our two wonderful children in Panama in the effort to earn enough to pay our debts and support the process of petitioning INS for visas for them to follow me here.
Due to the state of our indebtedness, We have been informed that the marina will now be cutting off electricity to our home and will shortly be attaching our only assets and barring us legal exit from the country. Deportation for them will be next. I am sure that you know of the horrendous situation that awaits in Venezuela. I can try to petition the government of Venezuela for me to join them there. They may not allow me to enter
Meanwhile, I search every day for gainful employment. I have leads. Our needs are small but immediate. We only ask for enough to keep the wolves at bay while we establish a foothold and work to reconcile our debts.

Terminé en Panamá donde me las arreglé para apoyar a mí misma entregando yates a nivel internacional y reparando buques cuando podía. Conocí a mi nueva esposa mientras visitaba Cartagena mientras recogía un barco para la entrega a Texas. Pronto nos casamos y ella y sus hijos se unieron a mí en Panamá.
Después de recibir una oferta para venir a la bahía de Shelter Bay en el Canal de Panamá, partimos de donde habíamos estado. El mal tiempo y la mala suerte se volvieron contra nosotros. Nuestras velas fueron dañadas y nuestro motor sobrecalentado a su desaparición. Fuimos remolcados en el puerto deportivo sólo para saber que el caballero que había hecho la oferta para nosotros para venir y trabajar no estaba de hecho autorizado para hacer dicha oferta. Ahora, casi un año después, nos encontramos con unos $ 4.000 en atraso a la marina. He viajado a Florida para buscar mejores oportunidades de empleo dejando a mi novia venezolana ya nuestros dos hijos maravillosos en Panamá en el esfuerzo de ganar lo suficiente para pagar nuestras deudas y apoyar el proceso de peticionar al INS para que me sigan aquí.
Debido al estado de nuestro endeudamiento, hemos sido informados de que el puerto deportivo ahora estará cortando la electricidad a nuestra casa y en breve estaremos adjuntando nuestros únicos activos y prohibiéndonos la salida legal del país. La deportación para ellos será la siguiente. Estoy seguro de que usted sabe de la horrenda situación que aguarda en Venezuela. Puedo pedir al gobierno de Venezuela que me una a ellos. No pueden permitirme entrar
Mientras tanto, busco cada día un empleo remunerado. Tengo pistas. Nuestras necesidades son pequeñas pero inmediatas. Sólo pedimos lo suficiente para mantener a raya a los lobos mientras establecemos un punto de apoyo y trabajamos para conciliar nuestras deudas.
