David who is only 16 is fighting for his life every single day. He has been diagnosed with a terminal, inoperable condition, and without consistent access to oxygen and medication, his body begins to shut down.

When he goes without treatment, his entire body swells, fluid builds around his heart, and he struggles to breathe. His stomach becomes distended, and he begins to vomit and suffer severe diarrhoea, leaving him too weak to eat or move.

In The Gambia, there is no free medical care — not even in emergencies. Hospitals and clinics will not treat anyone without payment upfront, and even something as basic as an ECG monitor is out of reach when funds run out. Sadly, David hasn’t had access to one in weeks.

It costs just £15 a day (about £105 a week or £420 a month) to keep him alive and give him some comfort and dignity, In Sha Allah.

Other options include purchasing his own oxygen cylinder for £1,450, which could make a lasting difference, but even then, refills and medication cost around £100 per month.

David deeply misses being home with his family, surrounded by love and peace. Unfortunately, he is now at risk of being evicted again today, as there are simply no funds left.
