Oliver is diagnosed with a rare disease - neuroimmune condition – a medical condition known variously as “environmental sensitivities”(ES) or “multiple chemical sensitivity” (MCS).
As reported by Oliver’s medical specialists from the Environmental Health Clinic at Women’s College Hospital (affiliated with the University of Toronto), with this disease, exposure to a small amount of chemicals, including commonly used household chemical products such as air fresheners, cleaning detergents, Volatile Organic Compound (VOC), environmental allergens such as mould, animal dander, tree pollens and even some building materials can cause acute and disabling reactions.
Due to the nature of this disease, and lack of designated/accessible living places for his MCS/ES condition, at times Oliver has found himself homeless over the past couple of years, which has nearly threatened his life.
On 13th of July 2022, CTV news and CP24 aired the latest update of his situation:
Having no suitable living place for his health condition and continuous exposure to environmental and chemical triggers, Oliver’s health condition keeps declining.
A home builder, who was touched by Oliver’s story, reached out to help build an Environmental Sensitivity/Multiple Chemical Sensitivity (ES/MCS) safe home for him. The builder proposed a Health-Centric home, which is aligned with the goals of “Green” building and is environmentally and MCS friendly.
The estimate of cost of such home currently is around three million dollars.
Oliver is not comfortable reaching out like this. Your generosity means a lot to Oliver. He is fighting this disease with great effort and continues to live the best life possible. He seeks always to find the positive in his situation. However he urgently needs to find a safe independent living environment in order to save his health.
