Help To Heal Minnie.

Trigger Warning.

My name is Cathy. I’m here to tell you a desperately sad and sickening story. My lovely friend Jen has a beautiful daughter Celeste. Celeste is a very special and amazing young lady who has the gift of ASD. Minnie (Celeste’s ASD support dog) came into Celeste’s life at the perfect time and words cannot begin to describe how much Minnie has enriched Celeste’s life. Tragedy has struck Minnie at the hands of hideously cruel and malicious individuals who have shaken the very foundation of this beautiful family.

I will let Jen tell you first hand what has happened:

“On Friday night (25.9.2020) an intruder entered our property in Elanora Qld and whilst we were asleep attacked my 13 year daughter’s assistance dog Minnie. Minnie is a greyhound who has been by Celeste’s side keeping her anxiety at bay and helping her understand the world. Celeste has autism and intellectual delay.

As we struggle to come to terms with such a senseless act of brutality the vet bills add up. We will do whatever it takes to get our girl well and am not a family to seek help but right now the reality of what we are facing is real so every dollar is needed.

We do not know exactly what happened on that Friday night but what we do know is Minnie has a fight ahead of her. She was bashed with such force that her sinus bones have been shattered and her brain bruised. Each day is a day forward. We are yet to learn if or of what depth Minnie may be brain damaged. Her face will take weeks, if not months, to heal.

We never imagined that we would wake up at 6.30am to find our fur baby lying on her bed near lifeless and surrounded by blood. She was sleeping peacefully on the lounge when we said goodnight to her at 11.00pm the night before.

We cannot thank Pet Doctors at Elanora enough for their care of Minnie but naturally they cannot care for her for free. To date her vet bills have already amounted to $2000. There have been x-rays, anaesthetic, blood tests, and medication. Today she needed to be placed on a drip as she was dehydrated and she has lost weight since Saturday. A strong pain killer patch was placed on her leg today to help her cope with the immense pain she must be on. Thursday will see another vet visit and the pain killer pad changed. Vet visits will be regular over the coming weeks.

As a family we cannot even begin to comprehend why anyone would do this. We are a quite family who keep to themselves. We do not do drugs. We are your average family struggling to pay the mortgage and make end meet. Why someone would do this to our sweet Minnie who wouldn’t hurt a soul.”

if you could spare some dollars to help this loving family, and help to restore their faith in the goodness of people, we would be so very grateful. Thank you so much xxx
