Help to get my daughter a life changing operation
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Janice. I have a daughter Kirsten who is 33, Kirsten suffers with a condition called Ehlers-Danlos syndrome also known as EDS. She is a single mother of two children but suffers badly with pain. In 2021 Kirsten had to get her pelvis and hip fused and screwed due to her eds and pregnancy. We found out Kirsten has broken her back both sides of the L5 with a missing disc, now bottom disc is slipping. NHS won’t do the surgery Kirsten has tried but just got medication that doesn’t take her pain away. She’s often bed ridden and can no longer walk much. We have found a surgeon that can do this operation but as her back has got even worse more work is needing done. The hospital is in England called spire healthcare they want to fuse the spine possibly put a rod in the spine, screws and two new discs, possibly burn some nerves. Kirsten has a daughter who’s 15 and classed as her young carer, she also has a son who’s 8 that loves football. All Kirsten wants is a life to do things that any mother would want to do with their children and not be stuck in bed all the time with severe pain, this has impacted her mental health as she can’t go out much, if Kirsten does she would only go out with another adult or her daughter about. We understand it’s a huge amount of money so any donation big or small would be a blessing to get this done. 2016 Kirsten was told she could no longer work. She worked for NHS in rehab and end of life, this has also had a huge impact as she loved her job and being told at 33 your condition is too bad to work is effecting Kirsten as it would any 33 year old that loves to work and make their own money. At the moment things have got so bad Kirsten can’t sit up too long without severe pain. Doesn’t manage to walk much but if her children have something on she forces her self then ends up in bed for days to weeks. The EDS Kirsten has is rare and she would love to not be on so much medication and have some kind of life as being stuck in a bed crying is not healthy or a normal thing for her children to see. Any donations given will be put to Kirsten’s operation. Kirsten is also setting a website up to write about her journey in life with EDS and will be able to connect to people who suffer with this or people who want to understand more.
thank you for taking your time to read this. Again anything will help us to get Kirsten this operation that she desperately needs.
