HELP TO GET KELLY HOME
Donation protected
My name is Deborah Johnson. I am Kelly Johnson's Mom. On Friday, September 30, 2022, I received a phone call from a hospital in Cancun, Mexico. Kelly travelled alone to Cancun on September 25 and was due to fly out on the 30th. The details of why she was there are complicated and irrelevant to this request.
Kelly had a jet ski accident, the details of which I still do not know. She was transferred to the general hospital there in Cancun, where she underwent emergency surgery on her pancreas. She has trauma to the thoracic area of her spine, eight broken ribs, and a broken leg and ankle; she has been placed into a medically induced coma and is on life support. Her condition is critical, and she is in intensive care. She currently cannot be moved. But we need to enlist an air ambulance service to get her to a hospital in the United States when her condition improves.
Mexico's healthcare system has no resemblance to that of the United States. I have enlisted the aid of multiple agencies and people to help me even to get information about Kelly. It is excruciatingly slow and difficult.
Her insurance company has refused to give me any information because Kelly doesn't have anyone listed as an authorized representative, and she cannot do so.
I believe she purchased travel insurance for this trip, and they refused to give me aid.
It would be physically challenging to travel to Cancun myself, and I would wander around in this strange environment, not knowing what to do. So I depend on an Angel there who has come forward to help. But going there, flights, hotel, or the expenses I am encountering for Kelly's care are impossible without asking for help.
If it's in your heart to help and can, this would be the way to help. If it's in your heart to help and you can't, perhaps you could continue to send prayers that God hold her in His hands and grant us a miracle to get my Kelly home.
Thank you to all who have been there for us with all the kind words and prayers.
