Help to Fund Autumn Patrick Grimes' Top Surgery

As many of you may already know, I've been fortunate enough to book a top surgery appointment on February 3rd. I'm incredibly lucky to have health insurance coverage which has reduced the cost of my surgery significantly.  My greatest hurdle at the moment is making sure that the remaining cost of the surgery and the lack of income for the 6 weeks will covered. While I do have temporary disability through my benefits and some money in savings, it's not quite enough to cover my basic needs. As you all know, it's certainly not easy to ask, but I'm choosing to be brave. Below is the estimated cost breakdown.

ESTIMATED SURGERY COST

$4,000

This is the remainder of my deductible in addition to 20% out of pocket cost per my insurance coverage given the surgery cost is $10,000. Due to Emory's new billing system, I will not know the exact amount until a few weeks before the surgery, leaving me little time to prepare.

ESTIMATED COST OF LIVING DURING RECOVERY

This is the cost of my portion of bills, plus $50 a week for groceries during a 6 week period.

I'm already on track to have a couple thousand of this covered through my own savings, so luckily I'm hoping to raise significantly less than the estimated cost.

The next few months will be full of continued hard work to secure my surgery and minimize significant debt. I'm full of so much love and gratitude for everyone who has supported me through this journey. Life has been full of many challenges, and having my friends by my side has been the greatest gift I could ask for. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
