Progress:
7 cats homed, 3 feral cats taken off the streets, and 3 more feral cats left to catch
Hi, I am Sabrina. I started feeding five stray cats- one black and white mom (Poppy), her three black kittens (Abbi, Cash and Ruben) and another shy black and white cat (Gilly) a few months back. I kept feeding them as a temporary solution while I contacted rescue organizations or the council.
It turned out the council was not helping (and still is not), and all rescues I called were over-capacity. In the meantime, I started noticing the females getting pregnant. I took matters into my own hand and posted them on social media.
The response I received was overwhelming. I found foster moms and a local rescue to foster through. One newfound foster also took in two FIV+ kittens that needed urgent attention.
However, I realised while it was the local, smaller rescue organisation like this one that often takes in stray cats, they are under-resourced and are struggling with the budget. The wonderful volunteers are stretched out thin and burned out.
I am trying to raise this fund to cover the cost of the cat I have rescued with the help of this organisation. The money will cover desexing, microchipping and vaccination of the cats and the new litter to come. If we have money to spare, they will go for treatment of FIV+ kittens like Jacks and Cody.
Many thanks in advance for your kindness.
