Hi!
I'm Daniela, a Chilean living in Berlin, heartbroken to see my country —and my region (Ñuble and Bío-Bío)— burning for days due to massive wildfires that have already completely destroyed entire villages. Some fires have been brought under control, but with summer temperatures reaching 38°C, the situation remains critical. The government has declared a state of emergency. Some fires keep reigniting, while new ones continue to appear. Sadly, this happens frequently in Chile during the summer, and the reasons are dark—many are believed to be intentional and driven by corporate or profit-oriented interests, if you wish to research further.

So far:
  • More than 30.000 hectares have burned
  • 19 people have died
  • Over 350 homes have been completely destroyed—these families have lost literally everything
  • 50.000 people have been evacuated from their homes and communities as the fires continue

Here you can read more about it:

There is currently no official data on the number of pets and wild animals killed or injured, but Chile has a large animal population—native species (such as deer, rodents, and birds) as well as cats and dogs—and every time fires occur, they are among the first victims.

I am organizing this fundraiser to support organizations that rescue and treat injured animals (specially Ñacurutú, you can see the amazing work they do ), to donate to Bomberos de Chile (our firefighters, mainly from the affected regions), who are not funded by the state and rely heavily on community donations and frequent fundraising efforts, and also to help some of the families whose homes have burned down and who have lost everything. They had to escape with only the clothes they were wearing, with no time to take anything with them.

Anything you can contribute will help.
Thank you so much for your support.

P.S: While the organizations mentioned above—and many others—already have (Chilean) bank accounts where donations can be made, I’ve noticed that without a Chilean account it’s very difficult or sometimes impossible to transfer money to them. PayPal is not available, and using the international bank transfer system might not always work; sometimes money even gets lost along the way. As they aren't usually expecting donations from abroad they have no need to even think about exploring options like Paypal or others. That is also one of the reasons I decided to create this fundraiser as I can easily use my banking apps and accounts to make the money reach the organisations in Chile :)
