Hi, my name is Lisa Lark, and my life has always revolved around rescuing dogs. It’s more than a passion; it's truly a "barking good time" helping pups in need! Our home is currently filled with four incredible dogs, each with their own unique story that led them to us.

There's Rusty, a Coonhound mix, who was literally dumped from a white truck ten years ago. My step-kids' dad welcomed him into our family, and he's been a cherished part of our lives ever since. After losing my incredible spirit dog, Spats, my beloved Great Dane, my soul and home felt empty. That's when I found Zuko, my second Great Dane. and brought so much life back into my heart and home. Then there's Max, a Lab-Golden Retriever mix. I was his fifth home before his first birthday because after COVID, people went back to work. He'd been passed from person to person, but he's turned out to be the best family dog, and he's now five years old.

Finally, there's Whiskey Lou. She was abandoned on Whiskey Row in Louisville in front of the restaurant where I worked when she was just 12 weeks old. Her arrival truly ignited a long-held dream of mine: to create a safe, loving, and "Pawsitive" environment for dogs when their owners couldn't be with them. That's how Whiskey Lou's Doggie Daycare was created.

Why Our Community Needs Whiskey Lou's

This is a passion for me; to help a critical need in Carrollton, Kentucky, and surrounding areas. Just this past April, a flood impacted a friend's home, leaving her four dogs in a stressful situation. I immediately took them in, providing a safe environment while her home is being evaluated of damages. This deeply personal experience highlighted a constant challenge for families here: there are virtually no adequate boarding or daycare options in our community. This makes it incredibly difficult for pet owners to go on vacation or if an emergency happens like the incident with the flooding this facility will ensure your pets are safe and secured.

Building a Better Future for Dogs

To address this vital need and expand our capacity, we're building a pole barn for Whiskey Lou's Doggie Daycare. This will be a safe, spacious, and weatherproof facility where dogs can play, learn, and thrive year-round. This new structure will not only improve the care we offer our daycare dogs but also allow us to further support local animal shelters in need, a commitment that will be a core part of Whiskey Lou's journey.
