Help to Elevate Austin!

As some of you know, and many of you don’t, Austin has struggled with a severe opiate addiction for years now. He has been in and out of state funded rehab facilities, as well as jail. He has had many short stints of sobriety, however has never been able to maintain this for a significant length of time. Addiction is extremely common and the heroin/opiate epidemic continues to get worse across our nation. The CDC states nearly 500,000 people REPORTED using heroin and 15,000 deaths from overdose in 2017. Now I’m not here to spit facts just to make a point that this is a devastating disease and there is not a lot of help out there for these individuals due to the vast amount of people struggling. We simply do not have enough resources and funding to properly treat and care for people suffering from addiction.

I am writing this on Austin’s behalf as he is in jail right now and has been for almost 2 months now. He has been able to detox and get to a place of clear and rational mind state. Even before he went in at the end of December he was expressing his desire to get sober in order to be with his family again. He is ready to do the work but he knows he can’t do it on his own. This is one of the first times I’ve heard him express his desire to get treatment.

The problem with state or MediCal funded programs is they tend to be placed in the inner cities (such as San Francisco) where addicts have been living and have all their outside influences. Additionally many of the people in these programs are simple court ordered to be there and not really wanting to get sober on their own accord. This can lead to burn out and despair among the staff who are suppose to be supporting these people in an extremely difficult time of their life. I’m sure if you have spent time in any state funded institutions (whether that be a medical clinic, rehab facility, or even the dmv) you know the difference in the level of care and concern employees bring compared private insurance coverage locations. I’m not saying this is always the case but it is a simple fact in many circumstances.

I have found an amazing evidence-based private rehab facility that centers on getting to the root cause of addiction through a holistic model. They approach sobriety through a series of phases that focuses on nutrition, physical fitness, mindfulness, and emotional healing. It is a non 12 step recovery model that believes in permanent recovery from addiction rather than struggling to maintain sobriety that most treatment programs emphasize.

“The Elevate program stresses personal accountability, confronting issues in life, becoming honest with oneself and others and living with integrity and honor. We have seen many clients who were unsuccessful with traditional rehabilitation methods respond fantastically to our treatment approach. We are excited and passionate about our empowering philosophy regarding rehabilitation, and our clients continually provide us with positive feedback and heartwarming testimonials.”

There is so many things I could say about this treatment facility but I urge you to look through their website and see the difference that is offered through Elevate’s inpatient program.

Because this facility is private, all costs are out of pocket. Within our immediate family we simply do not have the ability to cover tuition. However, and amazingly, Elevate is in a position to offer grant money that will match whatever we are able to raise!! This is incredible news because without their help it might not be possible to get Austin in to their program.

So if you’ve made it this far I thank you for reading! As I said in the beginning I had nearly lost hope that my brother would make it out of this addiction. It is extremely painful to watch a loved one lose themselves to drugs and feel helpless in the fight. But finding Elevate, after visiting my brother week after week and seeing the desire in his eyes to get clean and be apart of his family again has given me hope and inspiration. I know we will find a way to come up with this money one way or another. But your donation of 5, 10, or 20 dollars could be one step toward getting him there sooner than later. I ask that if you feel inspired you offer what you can. Also please check out Elevate and spread the word to others who may be seeking treatment for their addiction! If nothing else I ask that you share this post to spread the word and help us reach goal

Thank you so very much for your time and consideration ❤️
