Hi, I’m Jim (Ron to my family). Many of you have known me for quite a few years. Most of you know my best friend, Ford, either personally or through me. Ford and I have been friends for around 25 years, and we’ve been there for each other through many ups and downs.

Over the last four years, Ford has gone through some difficult times.

After a marriage of 13 years ended, things were tough, but Ford persevered. However, just as things were starting to look brighter, and he was able to cut down from working 7 days a week to 6 days, last year, he was diagnosed with prostate cancer.

At first, his doctor suggested that, because his cancer was low grade, they could just monitor it with blood tests and CAT scans every 2-3 months. Unfortunately, after only one follow up the doctor informed him that his cancer had worsened and that surgery would be his best option.

After surgery, Ford will require 4 to 6 weeks of recovery time, possibly more, which means he will have to take a leave from BOTH his jobs. Unfortunately, neither job offers sick time. Even though he can apply for EI Sick Benefits after he’s had the surgery, that will not be soon enough or pay enough to cover his bills.

So, to help out, I decided to start this GoFundMe on his behave to help raise money to help him over the time he will be off work.

Ford has had to postpone one surgery date because he just could not afford it financially, but he can not postpone another. He is expecting to hear about a date in the fall.

I know that a lot of you are having a hard time these days, but when we help others, no matter how little, we are helping ourselves become better people. And I believe that every kind act is returned 10-fold.
