Help Victim of Hit and Run, Laer Hohmann

My friend's son, Laer Hohmann, was hit by a vehicle before 2am on March 21st as he crossed the road in Five Points. Columbia Police are still looking for the Dodge Charger/driver. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yQKP9_jCe40

I have known the mother of the victim for over 20 years. She and her son are alumni of Hilton Head Island High School  and have strong community roots on Hilton Head Island and in Estill, SC.

I am starting this fundraiser because she needs to focus on her children right now and not worry about the cost of ICU and recovery of her second eldest. Laer is on a ventilator, in a medically induced coma. The medical team hopes to remove the ventilator soon.

A list of his injuries include:

His sternum is cracked/fractured and he has contusions on both of his lungs.

His tibia and femur in his right leg are broken. He required a four-hour surgery to save his leg. 

He has a fracture to his orbit below his left eye as well as hematoma around the left eye and may have permanent vision loss to his left eye.

He has a fracture in his Thoracic 3  (T3) vertebrae.

(Last year, the average cost of being on a ventilator in ICU was about $10K a day. There will be other costs with this situation. )

I feel it is important to rally and show solidarity.

Tiene una fractura en su órbita debajo del ojo izquierdo, así como un hematoma alrededor del ojo izquierdo y puede tener pérdida permanente de la visión en el ojo izquierdo.

Tiene una fractura en la vértebra Torácica 3 (T3)..

(El año pasado, el costo promedio de estar conectado a un ventilador en la UCI fue de alrededor de $ 10K al día. Habrá otros costos con esta situación).
