Help to bring Kapono Wood home to Hawaii

Donation protected
Hello everyone,

I'm creating this GFM for a good friend, Mr. Tony Wood, whose adopted son, Kapono M. Wood, was tragically killed in an auto accident in Indiana this past week. Tony is retired military, a disabled veteran and an altogether incredible person with a sense of humor that will have you in tears. He's a good friend who is there when you need him and is both dependable and charitable. He and his wife have raised an amazingly large and diverse family of adopted and biological children and has put more work into foster care than anyone I personally know. He's an absolutely swell person and it's because of these reasons I'd like to help him, as much as possible, to bring the Wood's son, Kapono, home to Hawaii to rest.

I asked Tony if we could help him and he humbly accepted. From Tony:

"Kapono M. Wood, 25, was killed 16 February on State route 28 in Clinton County Indiana. From his friend’s account they were going to meet after work and have dinner. The friends left first, and Kapono left shortly after. The preliminary report is that on a separated 4-lane road, he went into the left-hand lane passing slower moving traffic and never saw the turning Semi-truck. Kapono struck the Truck and suffered severe blunt force trauma. They detected a weak pulse and medevac’d him to the nearest Hospital where he passed away shortly after.

Despite all the hardships he and his brothers and sisters faced prior to our adoption, he was one of the gentlest and most kind persons you could ever hope to meet. It was impossible to not smile or laugh around him. He moved to Indiana to go to school with his brother Josh but found that working in manufacturing was the better fit. He is survived by his biological sister, Aloha Lani, Amy, Regis, as well as our own family Tony Wood and Joedi Wood. Joedi will be flying to Indiana on 6 March 2023 to settle his affairs and bring Kapono home."

Every little bit helps in times of tragedy and Tony's family can use the support. He's helped Stolen Stuff Hawaii considerably with past events and support as well which is also a reason why I'd like to help him by presenting this GFM to the group. Mahalo to everyone for the support and may you continue to love one another. My best to the Woods family.
