Hi, my name is Cheryl Harp. I reside in Charlotte, NC. Asking for assistance is very challenging for me but I really need help, and I need it sooner rather than later. I avoided the repossession of my car, and mounting financial challenges. With your help, I can stabilize my primary needs as I continue to seek full-time employment.
As a person diagnosed with Bipolar Disorder, my journey has included years of suicide attempts, hospitalizations, thirteen rounds of Electroconvulsive Therapy (ECT), and therapy. My faith in Jesus has been a cornerstone of my recovery, and I believe in using the tools He provides for wellness. Taking my medication daily and staying proactive about my mental health have been crucial in maintaining mental stability. Being able to manage my mental health is imperative. Understanding the challenges that people with mental illness face, I am dedicated to uplifting and encouraging those facing life’s toughest challenges. Today, I find myself in need of that same support as I navigate a difficult season.
Since losing my job with the local city government in 2022, my financial stability has steadily eroded. I depleted my savings and retirement account to stay afloat and took a job with a $13,000 pay cut just to maintain insurance for my medications. Despite my best efforts, the debt continued to grow.
This year has been especially challenging. A severe asthma attack in April led to a 5-day hospitalization and additional medical expenses as I missed nearly a month from work. In August, I was out for two weeks while doctors tried to determine if I was having a heart crisis or another severe asthma episode. I had been working as an assistant property manager, and in October, my apartment complex changed management, and the outgoing company did not have a position for me. Already struggling financially, I decided to focus on searching for better-paying work.
At 56 years old, with long-term experience across multiple fields, I’ve found it unexpectedly difficult to secure a stable job. I have been searching, being rejected, or not being contacted at all. I recently went through two strong interviews for a promising role but didn’t reach the final round. Meanwhile, my financial situation has become critical.
I’m humbly asking for $8,600 to help me:
1. Cover overdue rent, plus one month, and avoid eviction (court date set for 12/11/24)****THIS HAS BEEN RESOLVED, BUT STILL NEED ASSISTANCE FOR FEB***
2. Catch up on car payments and insurance through January 2025-THIS HAS NOT BEEN RESOLVED
3. Cover any associated GoFundMe fees-I DIDN'T KNOW THAT THEY TAKE THEIR MONEY FIRST.
With any additional funds, I can work on other outstanding bills. Additionally, it is my hope to re-certify as a North Carolina Peer Support Specialist and update my Wellness Recovery Action Plan (WRAP) facilitator certification. These certifications will enable me to have supplemental income while I continue to search for full-time employment.-STILL SEARCHING FOR EMPLOYMENT, ABLE TO COVER SOME SMALL BILLS, BUT SOMEONE ASSISTED WITH THE COST OF TRAINING-THANK YOU!
Your contribution will provide critical relief during this challenging time, allowing me to work toward financial stability. Whether you can donate or share this campaign, your support means the world to me. Thank you in advance for any assistance you can provide. Be blessed and stay mind, body, and spirit healthy!-UPDATED ON 1/18/25
