The Titanium Knights A, a FIRST Tech Challenge robotics team from Northern NJ, was invited to participate in the Chicago Robotics Invitational (CRI) that takes place in early July. CRI is one of the most premier and selective off-season FTC challenges and is truly a great achievement to have been invited.
With fundraising slowing down due to the pandemic, the team will have to pay out of pocket to attend this competition, this includes flights, transportation, food, lodging, robotics parts expenses, and many other such expenses. Unfortunately our school is not funding this trip.
We are a team of 11 students comprised of sophomore and senior students from towns all across Bergen County. The Titanium Knights are in its 4th year of competing in the FIRST Tech Challenge and it has been an incredible and successful 4 years. In the span of these short 4 years, the Titanium Knights A, went from a rookie team with no experience, competing with a robot mainly comprised of cardboard and duck tape, to a very competitive team in the state. For example, just in March, when we were competing amongst the top teams in the state, we won the first place think award in addition to being the third seed divisional semifinalist captain after placing 5th in our division. A week prior to the state competition, we won the inspire award, the most prestigious FTC award, in addition to being in the finalist alliance.
