Help TJ Overcome Top Surgery Costs

Hey y'all! My name is TJ Lake (they/them) and I'm trans nonbinary.

I had top surgery on May 31st, and I'm healing well so far! I can’t believe it’s been almost 6 weeks; this surgery has already been truly life-changing, and so worth it - even though it has put me back in medical debt.

Here’s a cost breakdown:

Travel & lodging = $2250

Facility fee = $1600 (estimated, waiting on insurance confirmation)

Surgeon fee = $6160

Prescriptions = $80

Anesthesiology = still unknown

Pathology = still unknown

Labs = still unknown

This comes out to over $10K and I had to put a lot of it on credit cards to make it work. I’m trying to pay it off before incurring too much interest, but other medical expenses are making that difficult right now - my dad’s been to the ER twice in the last 7 weeks (he's ok now), and I need to get a wheelchair before coming back to school & work in August.

The cost of healthcare can be really frustrating, especially as a chronically ill & disabled trans person; but I am so grateful for any support you can offer - whether that’s donating yourself or sharing this with others.
