Introduction:

Hello, my name is Monique Hazel, I am raising funds for my brother whose name is Terry James Knight Jr. We call him TJ for short. He is a very hard-working union brother (Operating Engineers Local 925) who’s a family man that loves his wife of 30 years and kids. He is a sweet, fun-loving, gentle giant whose never met a stranger a day in his life.

Diagnosis:

Last Christmas, after complaining about his stomach issues to his doctor for several years, he was finally diagnosed with a bad gallbladder. He was scheduled and went in for surgery to have his gallbladder removed. On the operating table, his surgeon took one look inside and stitched him back up. What they found was his liver swollen throughout with cancerous tumors. The cancer made his gallbladder surgery unsafe. The location of the tumors in the liver made it inoperable.

How funds will be used:

Working as a crane mechanic/ operator for Maxim Crane (17 years) often calls for him to travel the country. True to his character, TJ has kept working throughout his many treatments thus far - but not like before. He’s had to turn down many opportunities to bring home the money that they need. The first medication took little to no toll on his ability to work and be a good husband and father to his two girls. He took the pain, fatigue, the limiting diet, and the numerous treatments all in stride while never letting on the true burden and the mental weight of the dire circumstances. He refused to lose his smile and chipper outlook on life. This month his doctor has started him on a fourth medication that has the ability to negatively impact the integrity of his healthy heart. He has little to no energy these days to do day-to-day activities, but still, he pushes on. TJ says that after walking out to his rig he has to rest before he has the ability to climb up inside and even then, he says that it takes every bit of strength he has. We beg and urge him to rest, but his love for his family makes him go on. He isn’t able to work as much as he used to, and the bills have already started to mount.
