Hi, my name is Tiyanna Elliott, and I’m only 21 years old. I never thought I’d be starting my life over at this age—but here I am, fighting every day just to walk, speak clearly, and feel like myself again.

Not long ago, my life changed forever when I was run over by a car. A group of teenagers I thought was my friends struck me, and the impact was so severe that I ended up in the ICU. I spent three days in a medically induced coma, followed by six days at Norfolk General Hospital, and another six days at Obici.

The doctors found I had a cracked skull, bleeding and fluid on my brain, and a traumatic brain injury that caused seizures. I was bleeding from my ear and slipping in and out of consciousness. I don’t remember parts of it, but I do remember the pain. And honestly? The pain never stopped.

Since the accident, everything in my life has changed:

• I have to relearn how to walk through physical therapy.

• I’m in speech and occupational therapy to regain basic skills.

• I can no longer work or drive.

• My driver’s license was taken away due to the high risk of seizures.

• I’m away from home and in rehab for a short time

I’m not the same girl I was before. This injury has affected how I talk, how I process emotions, and even how I interact with people. One of the hardest parts is that people don’t always understand what a brain injury does to you—mentally, emotionally, and physically. Sometimes I act differently, and it’s not because I want to… it’s because my brain is healing. And healing takes time.

I’m asking for $5,000 to help cover the next 6 to 12 months of recovery. I need help with:

Bills ,Food, clothing, and daily essentials

Basic living expenses while I cannot work or walk right now

Ongoing support as I rebuild my life

I’ve always been independent and hardworking, but right now, I need help. I didn’t choose this, but I’m choosing to fight through it. I want to heal. I want to live. And I want to feel whole again.
