Help Tiván get to the World WaterPolo Championship

Donation protected
I'm doing this fundraiser for my nephew Tiván, an incredibly hard-working, hard-training, focused and devoted boy.  I love him so very much, and it is breaking my heart seeing that although he just got an amazing opportunity, he may not be able to take it...

He has been playing water polo since he was six years old.  He just qualified to play in the Canadian Youth National Team and has the chance to participate in the WORLD MEN'S YOUTH WATER POLO CHAMPIONSHIP this summer!

Please keep clicking on ⬇️ READ MORE ⬇️ below, this page does not open up on its own and my fun photos and videos are hidden there!

My sister Réka, his very proud mom, called me in tears and said, "one minute we receive the news that Tiván’s dreams are coming through, and the next, I get a surprise email with a dreadful payment schedule from Waterpolo Canada.

That letter contained the deadlines of invoices that she needed to pay; if she could not, Tiván won’t be able to participate.  Not only his dreams would be dashed but also his chances of earning a scholarship.

I will never understand how sports teams work. Why does a national team need the players’ parents to pay for everything…??

My sister is the sweetest teacher and very active in her community. Her school and her friends mobilized and did everything they could to pitch in:  they ran a "50/50 drive” and a “Pizza Sale.”   Tiván did weeks of “bottle drives" ♻️ while also studying hard for his exams - but they've only been able to raise a fraction of the cost of this great opportunity.

I found out that time was running out, and realized that we need to start a fundraiser for Tiván. I’ve known him since he was born, I love him and he means so much to me.

❤️WE ARE HOPING TO RAISE THE REMAINING  $5325.37.
It covers the expenses requested from Tiván so he can travel with his team:

July 4th to July 10th -  With Team Alberta in Montreal, National Provincial Championship
July 11th to July 28th -  Centralization Period in Montreal for the Youth Men’s National Team
July 29th to Aug 5th -  Training in Verona, Italy
Aug 6th to Aug 10th -  Training in Szentes, Hungary
Aug 11th to Aug 19th -  World Championships in Belgrade, Serbia

The team trips include all these expenses:

Five flights - out of which four are international:
Calgary to Montreal
Montreal to Verona
Verona to Budapest
Budapest to Belgrade
Belgrade to Calgary

Our goal also includes the cost of one and a half month of accommodations, food for a big teenage boy, local transport and travel insurance.

Although this is my nephew's first time in Europe there is no budget needed for sightseeing since he will be spending every spare second in the water!   This trip is all about playing the best waterpolo he has ever played.

If you would like to see him in action please check out this compilation that is also a family production.  Footage is shot by Tiván's mom Réka who never misses a game and the video was edited by his awesome uncle Sage:

Tiván during the bottle drives he run with his mom.  They worked very hard to raise as much as they could:

These are some photos of Tiván growing up.   (also featuring his mom Réka, grandma Annamária, brother Zerind, sister Édua and of course his devoted auntie AB)

This is one of my favorite silly videos of him when his little sister was just born and he loved taking care of her.  Now he is 17 and teenagers are famously shy,  but I want to include this clip all the same since it shows that he's always been a sweet and mischievous boy.  ❤️

Thank you for giving this boy's dreams a chance and making his wishes come true!  We love you and have our eternal gratitude... ❤️❤️❤️

We just got this update below.    We are beyond disappointed in the mismanagement of these young players by Water Polo Canada.  The Team was leaving on July 4th and this email was sent 5 short days earlier.   In my opinion this shows gross incompetence but sadly there is nothing we can do.
