Help Tiva and Jackie, the 8 year old sister cats, land on their feet together and stay in the family!
My name is Anna Beth Jones, and I need to raise $1,000 to cover a pet deposit. My mother, Sherrie, needs that amount to provide housing for two cats. They will settle right in with her; she knows them—because they have been my cats all their lives. Here’s the story.
At the beginning of the year, a medical calamity struck my life. I was left unable to work. My job and livelihood: gone. My career: gone. My home: lost. I had to ball up my entire life in Versailles, Kentucky (pay off bills, settle accounts, put some things in storage). And I had to engage legal counsel and other help to begin the disability application process, garner special Social Security benefits. So, my savings: gone.
Thank goodness for family. I had to relocate to Louisville with all I had left of my life: my cats, Tiva May and Jackie Faye. My sister has welcomed me and the cats, but she and my son in law (who lives in the house as well) are both highly allergic and asthmatic. It’s not sustainable for the cats to be here. It will be months, possibly a year or more, before my disability and Social Security allow me to live in pet friendly housing again. If I rehome or surrender Tiva and Jackie, they, too, will be lost to me.
My mother is happy to ‘adopt’ the cats. She lives in an apartment-like suite in an assisted living facility. Pets are allowed there, but with an unusually high pet deposit: $500 per cat. I’ve managed to get my cats up to date on vaccinations and all other care needed to be housed with Mom. It’s now just about the funds.
I’m putting up this GoFundMe campaign in the hope that many small donations will help raise this amount without causing anyone any hardship. The Kentucky Humane Society will be able to contribute a small sum, but it leaves a large gap to fill. Any amount you can chip in will be greatly appreciated, as would your spreading the word about this campaign.
I will recover from this shock, and I hope to bring Tiva and Jackie home to ME after the end of this journey. Please help us to ‘keep them in the family’ until then. Thanks!
