Help Tito Fight and Heal

In the heart of every dog lover is the unwavering belief that our furry friends are not just pets, but family. Today, I reach out to this community with a heavy but hopeful heart for my beloved Dalmatian, Tito. As he nears his 4th birthday in April, Tito faces a battle that he, nor I, ever expected. Our ordeal began unexpectedly. After a day at the park, Tito, usually a bundle of energy and joy, became lethargic and uninterested in even his favorite treats. Concern grew as he refused water and food, and his vibrant spirit dimmed. It was clear he was suffering and trying to communicate his discomfort in the only way he knew how. With a sense of urgency, we rushed to the Fresno Veterinary Specialty and Emergency Center early on the morning of March 23rd. The initial signs were ominous: vomiting, a lack of appetite, and a distressing stillness. The veterinary team quickly put together a diagnostic plan, revealing internal bleeding in Tito's abdomen. The situation was dire, and Tito was admitted for 24-hour surveillance and underwent plasma transfusions in an attempt to stabilize his condition. Despite the initial transfusion, Tito's condition worsened; his abdomen continued to fill with blood, and his red blood cell count dropped alarmingly. It was a race against time. A blood transfusion became our next hope. As I rushed to be by his side, I was greeted by a sight that reignited my hope: Tito, alert, wagging his tail, with the color returning to his gums. The improvement was miraculous, but our journey is far from over. Tito remains under careful watch, receiving the medical care, including ongoing lab work, vital monitoring, and IV fluids. We are hopeful that the worst is behind us, but the road to recovery is long and uncertain.
