Help Titan Fight for His Life After a Tragic Accident
Goal: $5,000 CAD
On what should have been a joyful summer afternoon, our family’s world was turned upside down.
Yesterday at 1:15 PM, while getting ready for a fun outing to Goodrich-Loomis Conservation Area, our two beloved dogs—one big, one small—excitedly ran toward our SUV parked on Hollandale Avenue. In the chaos of loading up, they darted behind the vehicle toward the open door on the grass side.
At that exact moment, a City of Quinte West truck sped down our street, far too close to the curb.
I screamed and threw bags, desperate to stop what I saw unfolding. But it was too late. Our sweet little dog, Titan, was struck and rolled under the truck. The driver didn’t stop. He was already two houses down before finally hitting the brakes.
I ran into the road, scooped up Titan, and sat in our neighbour's driveway, trying to assess his injuries. My neighbour rushed us to the vet while I checked on my kids and arranged for their friend to be picked up.
One compassionate driver had already stopped, offered help, and shared her information. Her kindness will never be forgotten. But the city driver who hit Titan stood by his truck, expressionless, offering no help, no apology—just a smile and a shake of his head. My children were left asking why someone could show so little empathy.
Later, Supervisor Ron Hogan arrived. Instead of compassion, he filed a complaint against us, claiming our dogs were “loose and out of control.” He refused to provide the driver’s information and told us to file a complaint with the city. That was it.
Titan is now fighting for his life, and our hearts are shattered. This isn’t about blame or money—it’s about the lack of humanity shown by those who represent our city. The OPP officer who responded showed empathy and tried to help, even searching for cameras to prove the truck’s speed. But the city’s response was swift and cold. The file was closed before we could even catch our breath.
Ron Hogan’s parting words still echo:
“We’re lucky it wasn’t a kid.”
But what if it had been? Would the city still deflect responsibility?
Why We’re Asking for Help
Titan is more than a pet—he’s family. His injuries are severe, and the emergency vet bills are mounting as we fight to save him. We’re doing everything we can, but we need help to give him the best chance at recovery.
We’re asking for $5,000 to cover:
Emergency vet care and surgery
Follow-up treatments and medications
Transportation and recovery needs
How You Can Help
If you can donate, share, or simply send prayers, we would be forever grateful. Every bit of support helps us stay strong for Titan and for our kids, who are struggling to understand how something so heartbreaking could happen.
