Hello. My name is Tish (Summerville) Crowell. I am a wife, a mother, and a Nana. Here’s my story: Mid-November 2024, I started experiencing migraine headaches. I was employed by MCSD and taught at an elementary school in Columbus, GA. I started having to miss work more often. The headaches intensified over the next few months and by February of 2025, they were debilitating. In June of 2025, after months and months of seeing doctors, specialists, having tests run, and a series of imaging, my team of doctors scheduled me for surgery on Friday the 13th. It happened so quick it seemed. The last MRI revealed a subdural hematoma in the brain region. Three days later, they did an arterial embolization. Since the surgery, I have undergone more tests and tried all of the migraine medications on the market; however, my headaches haven’t stopped. My neurological team decided to refer me to a neurovascular doctor at Duke University Hospital in Durham, NC. That appointment was scheduled in October of 2025. Yes, it would be 7 months of waiting for that appointment in order for me to be seen by Duke’s neurovascular team. The appointment is scheduled for May 15, 2026. The headaches and pressure I feel in my head daily are almost unbearable at times, but I’m doing the best I can.

During my health journey, God has provided! I give all honor, glory, and praise to Him! Everything in our lives happens for a reason. I have uttered these exact words throughout my life to others and I’ve had to say them to myself. I’ve learned so much about God in the quiet and about myself during this time of waiting. I have approached every encounter with doctors in prayer. Lord knows I have called on others to pray for me. I am continuing to trust the Lord in EVERY season of this journey.

I applied for FMLA in the beginning and that turned into short-term disability, which eventually has rolled into long-term disability. I thank God that I had both of these plans in my benefits package. We have been able to make ends meet because I was enrolled in these programs. However, as the appointment date of May 15th approaches, I do not have what is needed in order to make the trip to Duke University Hospital. Please believe me when I say- I am not complaining. Instead, I am campaigning and taking steps of obedience.

Every dollar donated will go toward medical and travel expenses to Duke University Hospital, overnight accommodations (nothing fancy), and the out of pocket copay for the Neurovascular specialist (I am awaiting those figures).

I have prayed and prayed. I have asked others to pray with me for God to provide a way or to provide answers as to which direction to go. I have also weighed other options.

If I cancel & reschedule, I will have another 6-7 months to wait. I truly do not want to wait anymore. I really can’t wait. There’s a lot riding on this one appointment.

That’s why I am asking for help. Please help me cover medically necessary trip to Duke Hospital in prayer and also pray about donating. Any amount, great or small, is appreciated and it will allow me to be one step closer to seeing this appointment through. I’m convinced that God will bless you!

I hadn’t even thought of GoFundMe, and the ad popped up as I was scrolling Facebook one morning. Just like that… keep scrolling. I dismissed it. Every day for about a week-I dismissed the ad. It was only after talking to two of my prayer partners that I was swayed that crowd funding may be my best viable option.

So, I’m pushing my pride to the side and stepping out on faith.

Is this what God is directing me to do? I won’t know unless I walk the steps through these doors I feel in my heart He is opening.
