A portion of the funds raised will be used to support a living donor who is determined to be healthy candidate by a primary doctor. If we cannot find a candidate in Houston, we will fly out the candidate who will then go through an evaluation with the Memorial Hermann transplant team. These funds will also provide the assistance we need to house a living donor and their support person until the living donor is completely healed. I also plan to offer the living donor and their support person financial assistance for transportation, time spent not working, and a place to stay during recovery. Another portion will go toward my medical bills that Medicare does not cover and the last part will go toward my business  Envious Design Boutique Salon and Spa.

Hello again, my name is Latisha “Tish” Chatman. I am the Owner of Envious Design Boutique, and I am in search of a kidney donor, and I am trying to raise money for my transplant and the equity amount to open my storefront location.

I was diagnosed with kidney disease when I was eleven years old. Unfortunately, the doctor never knew what caused the kidney disease. It was not until I was 27 in one of my many hospitalizations that I found out my kidney never grew properly.

In March 2015, while on spring break I was rushed to the hospital because we thought I was having an allergic reaction to some medication given to me for food  poisoning. I was admitted into the hospital only to learn that my kidney had failed and the only way to save my life was to go on dialysis.  The doctors informed me and my family that if I did not go on dialysis then at best, I would only live for three more months.  I was very shocked and surprised; I mean my goodness I was only was 24 years old and I had just started my 1st year as a Special Education Teacher and School dance coach. My life just came crashing down out of nowhere. After being convinced by my loved ones, I chose to get on dialysis.  Next, they put a catheter in my chest that connects to a vein on your heart to start dialysis. I had my first dialysis treatment on March 15, 2015. After a month, I finally went back to teaching to finish out the remainder of the year and then went on to teach summer school.

On July 6, 2015, I was hospitalized for a week due to an infection in my catheter {this was the beginning of many more hospitalizations because catheters get infected very easily}. When I was released, I went back to my dialysis center and when I was leaving, my doctor noticed that I was walking funny however I didn’t think too much about it. A day later, in the middle of the night, I had to go to the restroom and as I was getting out of my bed, my legs gave out and I instantly hit the floor. I could not move my legs. I had to use my upper body to crawl to the front of my bedroom, but nobody heard me because my room was on the other side of my mother's house. My mom found me on the floor the following day. She tried to help me up, but I was too heavy because, at this point, I was dead bodyweight.  My mother called my dad, and he immediately came over. My dad  picked me up and took me downstairs while we waited for the ambulance to come.

I was hospitalized again, but this time it was in for a whole month. This time was different because, technically, I died. I caught pneumonia and was also diagnosed with yet another catheter infection which meant I had to undergo another replacement catheter surgery. While in the hospital I was never left alone either my mom and my Aunt Clarice were there or my uncle Ron or my Auntie Charlayne was with me {thank God for family}, okay so on this day my Aunt Charlayne was with me as I went into have my catheter replaced, I was given anesthesia of course and after the surgery I was given a breathing treatment because of the pneumonia. Well, those treatments always made me jittery. I started shaking very badly, I was jittery; my teeth were chattering, my lips were turning blue, and I was twisting and turning. My aunt was trying to get me to relax, and soon she said Tish just relax God is here, Jesus is with you, the angels are here, and right after those words left her lips, I coded out the machine and flat lined {all while she was holding my hand}. I was gone for six minutes (technically, I should have been brain dead). But thank God I was stable enough to be placed into an induced coma for four days until they slowly brought me out.  I was in ICU for one more week until they moved me back to the general population. After coding, I lost the function of my arms, which caused me to have to do a lot of physical therapy. I was finally released on my 25th birthday August 2nd,2015. I went back to teaching in October 2015 and taught until June 2017.  Unfortunately, I had to resign from my teaching position after my school hired a new principal as she was not familiar with the way dialysis worked. I had to leave early on Tuesday and Thursdays to get treatment and sometimes my blood pressure would drop after dialysis making me very weak and tired, so it was a struggle sometimes to go to work the next day, but I did my very best because I just wanted a normal life.

So, at this point, I moved back to my mother's house and went into a major depression.  I didn’t want to have to stay at home and receive social security I wanted to work and live my life like any young 27-year-old women, eventually I decided to go back to get my Masters’ degree in the spring of 2018. While I was attending Texas Southern University pursuing my master's degree, I decided I wanted to start my own business and God gave me the idea for Envious Designs Boutique.  I went to work finding out everything I could about starting my own business and on June 13, 2018, I applied for my DBA and purchased my first couple of pieces and started selling women's clothing and lashes. I start off doing pop up shops and hustling out the trunk of my car. I then moved to my apartment and my whole living room was dedicated to the boutique and I would take clients in my house. I also started doing and competing in fashion shows. In December 2019, I moved into a two-bedroom apartment where I dedicated a whole bedroom to the boutique, which now sells women's clothes, accessories, and multiple beauty products. In June 2020, I was awarded the "Best Boutique" at the Hustle and Grind Award Show. By March 2021, my dream became even bigger, and I now want to open Envious Design Boutique Salon and Spa, a one-stop luxury shop for women to shop and get every service under one roof.

Envious Design Boutique Salon & Spa (EDB) is a Limited Liability Corporation (LLC) within Houston, TX to luxuriously provide women with a shopping experience and variety of beauty services under one roof. Unlike many businesses in the beauty service industry, clients are seen as more than just contributors to the bottom line. It is the Envious Design Boutique Salon & Spa (EDB) philosophy that every customer is special and deserves the utmost service, care, and most importantly feel beautiful in the skin they are in.

Many people in the U.S spend time and resources traveling from one location to the next to buy clothes, shoes and accessories while also trying to schedule and receive maintenance on their nails, eyebrows, lashes, etc. After spending many hours and resources doing this, Owner and Operator, Latisha “Tish” Chatman, wanted to establish a luxurious place where time could be saved, and customers could shop and be pampered going from one service to the next as a one-stop shop.

Prided in luxury, cleanliness and customer service, Envious Design Boutique Salon & Spa seeks to provide any client partaking in clothes, shoes, accessories, hair, hair styling, makeup, nail, eyelash, eyebrow, waxing, body enhancements or esthetician services with a high-quality experience. Location to be determined, but I hope to have Envious Design Boutique Salon & Spa strategically located within the epicenter of Houston’s midtown or third ward area to capitalize on reaching our target audience.

In July 2021, I started the transplant process at Memorial Hermann. I tried to start my kidney transplant processes at least twice through the years, but I kept failing due to a heart defect. Well, I finally passed the stage one process and started my journey to get on the transplant list. After multiple prep surgeries and meeting with numerous doctors to get a transplant clearance, I was finally accepted onto the Memorial Hermann transplant list on January 28, 2022. Oh, also, during this process, I completed my final semester at Texas Southern University and graduated with my M.A. in Education Administration.

Folks with your help by being a kidney donor, and or giving donations toward my kidney fund this will change my life dramatically. I can finally begin to take steps to fulfill my dreams to truly live again. Right now, I am on the UNOS deceased donor waitlist through Memorial Hermann. I am toward the top of the A blood type list due to being on dialysis for almost seven years, in fact it will be seven years on March 15, 2022. I am looking for a Living or Deceased Donor that has Blood type

A or O.

Additionally, these funds will help me to receive a kidney transplant. They will also be used to support a living donor who is determined to be healthy by a primary doctor. If we cannot find a candidate in Houston, we will fly out the candidate who goes through evaluation with the Memorial Hermann transplant team. These funds will provide the assistance we need to house a living donor and their support person until the living donor is completely healed. I also plan to offer the living donor and their support person financial assistance for transportation, time spent not working, and a place to stay during recovery. Another portion will go toward my medical bills that Medicare does not cover. Living expenses to support me, my mom and aunt (who are my primary caregivers) living expenses for four months due to post-surgery weekly follow-up by the Renal team at Memorial Hermann. I will also need mental health support Pre and Post-transplant. Finally, a portion will go toward the equity to own my storefront location for Envious Design Boutique Salon and Spa.

Kidney Transplantation will be a beautiful fresh new start for my life and represents the closure of a significant chapter of my life. I have already finished school, and I am ready to pursue my Envious Design Boutique Salon & Spa opening. I am ready to live life and travel the world again. I am ready to go full  force in enjoying my family and friends and help and give back to my community. A kidney transplant will help me take the world by full force and pursue so many different life adventures.
