Dear Friends and Supporters,
I am reaching out to you with a heavy heart to share my story.
My name is Tirth Doshi I’m 22 years old. I came to Canada from my home country India on a study visa on 2018. I developed a bilateral hearing loss right after getting here , initially it was tough but I managed to save money and buy self hearing aids to get through. After gruelling 4 years I complete my study and had landed a great job in my field after all the loans and struggle my parents went through to send me here even when they had no financial conditions to do so, I was prepared to pay them back and work and make a bright future for myself.
Unfortunately on November 3rd when I went to hospital for a checkup for stomach gas I was Diagnosed with a genetic disease ,known as Alport syndrome and both of my kidneys have failed and are operating at sub 5% capacity. It came out a total shock to me as i never smoked or drank.
I had to immediately get 2 holes on my neck and had a surgery done on me to start dialysis as my blood toxins level were too high. I was admitted in Royal Alexandra hospital , Edmonton and was there for last 3 weeks. Doctors have informed me for my blood group the wait times in Canada for a transplant are from 3-5 years.
As I was an international student from India I did not have medical insurance in canada. My family in India took out loans and spent all of their savings to bring me to canada.
Currently I’m doing dialysis 3 times a week and hoping to fly back to India to get a transplant from my parents, but the cost for the same is about 50k$ plus the flights and miscellaneous cost.
We are requesting you to donate however much money you could to support Tirth. Any amount of money that is donated will be a very significant amount of money given his current financial status. My family in India is very distressed seeing their only son fighting for his life at the tender age of 22 and that to all alone in canada. The money would also go to cover all other miscellaneous expenses.
I thank you for your kindness, thoughts, and support during this difficult period.
