Original first post:
Hi folks. Most of you know Ted, but here's a quick recap and then below a longer story for those who don't know.
Teddy is in ER right now but what might be either a broken leg or dislocated hip. We were busy getting ready and suddenly heard terrible screaming, saw he couldn't weight bear, and rushed him to the vet. He has also lost weight meaning that his lymphatic issue is bad again. We will update you as soon as we know something.
Meanwhile, we are severely limited in our funds. Mom is working but dad is not, so money is tight, and mom is a doctoral student, so she has to pay for this, as well as all our regular bills, and for Ted's fur sister who is getting older, and has collapsing trachea and a heart murmur. So any fund to help with Ted's vet bills would be greatly appreciated.
For those who don't know: Ted has lymphangiectasia - meaning his lymphatic system, which travels along side your bloodstream, cannot functionally pull protein and he therefore doesn't process it and it weakens him. It has something to do with fat, and we aren't sure if it started with or independently from his pancreatitis, but either way, he had both the lymphangiectasia and pancreatitis severely together 3 years ago and we almost lost him. It was so scary. At one point, his abdomen was so distended, he couldn't move, and they pulled 1L of fluid from him. It has been a constant battle of steroids, other meds, and special foods since then, trying to get the right balance. His protein levels have been dropping again in the last few months, so we have been back to the vet more times than we like lately.
