Hi, my name is Tina, and I’m a single mom in Las Vegas trying to keep my family afloat after a devastating series of layoffs and financial setbacks.
For years, I’ve worked multiple jobs to support my family without outside help. Last July, I lost my primary job, and after months of searching, I finally found a replacement position in December, though at a significant pay cut from what I had previously earned.
Then in February, the company’s systems were hacked, and the majority of employees, including me, were laid off.
I still have my second job, but it’s only part-time and no longer covers even half of our basic living expenses. Because I technically still have income, I do not qualify for most forms of assistance, despite being in a financial crisis.
Right now, we are nearly three months behind on rent and facing possible eviction. Our water service is at risk of being disconnected, my car is close to repossession, and our internet and phone services are in danger of being shut off, which directly impacts my ability to continue working and applying for jobs.
I’m applying to dozens of positions every day, primarily in customer success and operations roles, and I currently have multiple interviews scheduled this week and next. I’m willing to take any work available while continuing to search for stable long-term employment.
My two teenage sons are also trying to find work through temp agencies while our family works through this incredibly difficult period together.
Funds raised will go directly toward:
• Multiple months past due rent
• Multiple months past utilities and water service
• Preventing car repossession
• Multiple months past due phone and internet needed for work and interviews
• Groceries, gas, medications, and other basic necessities
I never imagined needing to ask for help publicly, but right now I’m doing everything I can to keep a roof over our heads and maintain enough stability to get back on our feet.
If you’re able to donate, share, or even send this to someone who may be able to help, it would mean more than I can express.
Thank you for reading and for any kindness or support during this difficult time.
