My name is Catherine Sauls Ohmstede and I grew up in Pensacola, Florida. My parents still live there and their home survived Hurricane Isaias with minimal

damage.

My mom’s choir director at First Presbyterian Church of Pensacola lost her house in a fire during the hurricane.

Text from my mom the day after the hurricane:

I thought the Hurricane was bad enough. Just learned from Tina that her house burned down last night just about the time the power was going out. She lost everything. She asked me to email the choir as she has no computer. I am so so sad.

Tina Buran has been playing and directing music at FPC for 50 years. She is their organist, pianist and director of musical programs. Tina was my choir director when I sang in the FPC choir in high school. She was a choir director in the public school system and a musical director at Pensacola Little Theater as well as the local community college. For 43 years she was pianist for the Pensacola Symphony Orchestra. She was my piano teacher growing up and I spent many hours practicing piano in her beautiful home.

This article features Tina’s 50-years career at FPC:

Please consider a contribution to Tina to help her recover from the devastation of losing her home to a fire during Hurricane Isaias.
