Help Send Me to Oxford (Because Climate Change Won’t Fix Itself!)
Hey everyone,
I’m writing this with a mix of excitement, nerves, and a tiny bit of secondhand embarrassment, but here goes: This fall, I have the honor of attending the University of Oxford for a Master’s in Sustainability, Enterprise and the Environment—a program that will equip me to tackle climate change, environmental justice, and sustainable policy on a global scale.
I never thought I’d be the person making a GoFundMe for grad school, but here we are. As an independent, first-generation college student, I’ve worked incredibly hard to get to this point, but tuition and living costs in the UK are… let’s just say, not cheap (and unlike Hogwarts, I don’t get to just summon galleons out of thin air).
So, if you’ve ever thought, “Wow, I’d love to invest in a broke climate nerd with big dreams,” now’s your chance!
Why This Degree Matters
For those who don’t know, my work has been focused on making sustainability and climate action more equitable. From leading green building initiatives at King County to embedding Equity and Social Justice (ESJ) principles into environmental policy, I’ve dedicated my career to ensuring climate solutions serve all communities, not just the most privileged.
At Oxford, I’ll have the chance to learn from world-class experts and develop new strategies to bridge policy, sustainability, and economic justice. I see this as a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to level up my impact—and I want to take everything I learn and bring it back to drive meaningful change.
Why I Need Help (And How You Can Be Part of This Adventure)
Oxford is incredible, but funding an international graduate degree is… well, brutal. Despite applying for every scholarship I can find and selling my soul to financial aid offices (jk… kind of), there’s still a significant funding gap.
If you’re able to contribute, even a little, I would be endlessly grateful. Your support will help cover:
✅ Tuition costs (because knowledge isn’t free, unfortunately)
✅ Housing & living expenses (so I don’t have to live in the Oxford library)
✅ Networking & career-building opportunities (helping me connect with global climate leaders)
And if you can’t donate, I totally understand! You can still help by sharing this with your wealthiest donor friends, tech moguls, or sugar daddies/mamas/caddies (no judgment, all are welcome here).
A Commitment to Giving Back
This isn’t just about me—it’s about investing in a future climate leader (who, I promise, will work tirelessly to make that investment worth it). I fully intend to pay it forward through mentorship, advocacy, and making sure climate policies actually serve the people who need them most.
Thank you for even reading this far, for your kindness, and for believing in me. This journey wouldn’t be possible without an amazing community of friends, family, and supporters.
With gratitude (and mild panic about moving to England),
