Help Timmy Recover from Traumatic Brain Injury

Donation protected
Hello, I am a long-time friend of the Anderson family and have known Timmy since he was four-years old. After dinner on Tuesday, July 30th, Timmy went skateboarding around the block from his house, as he does most days. At about 5:30 PM, he had an unwitnessed accident and was found down by a bystander, unresponsive. He was intubated in the field and was transported to Harborview Medical Center. His mother, Estera, was driving home and noticed the fire/police vehicles in the middle of the road. She pulled over and asked the neighbor what had happened. They said, "There was an accident with a kid on a skateboard; he is being transported to Harborview Medical Center.” She then pinged Timmy's phone, but there was no answer. With the “find my iPhone app,” she quickly noticed that Timmy's phone was traveling at a high rate of speed on I-90 towards Harborview.

Timmy’s condition deteriorated overnight, and at 2:56AM Wednesday morning, he was rushed into surgery. Timmy's neurosurgery team performed an emergency craniotomy (removal of a large part of his skull) to allow for decompression of the brain. It took an entire team of neurosurgeons, pediatric ICU doctors, nurses, and other staff over 16 hours to stabilize him. He is currently extubated but still in a critical condition, suffering from a Traumatic Brain Injury - fractured skull and subdural and subarachnoid hemorrhage.

In basic terms, he took a devastating fall on his head, causing a LOT of swelling, and while he is making progress, it will take time to go down. While the family has health care, the copay costs are going to be astronomical, and Timmy will need many months of rehab at Seattle Children’s Hospital - both physical and emotional, specialized equipment, nursing care, and another surgery to reattach his missing skull.

It's still early, and we don’t know what kind of long-term deficits Timmy will have to work through. We are asking for medical assistance to help bring him as close to 100% as possible. All funds will be used for his medical care, rehab, equipment, and any training needed in the future.

Thank you for helping Timmy and the Anderson Family!
