Hey my name is Stephanie and I am raising money for my neighbor Timmy Newsome for a much needed liver transplant. He has been sick for years but not quite sick enough to get listed for a transplant and now the time has come. He has met the requirements needed for a liver transplant. He has had many set backs with this whole process. Starting out he was seeing a specialist in Charleston at MUSC but the transplant team said they couldn't preform the surgery successfully due to other health concerns but then they sent his medical records to Duke University hospital in Durham NC and now he is finally approved! He will need to raise money not only for the surgery itself and the hospital stay but also for an apartment or long term rental for about 3 months or more. Once he's listed then called he will have to show that he has the money together for surgery and a place to stay. Once he has the surgery he will have to stay within an hour of Duke hospital in Durham for approximately 3 months maybe more and most places are very expensive. He will also still have regular bills to handle and to pay for any other expenses that arise. He will have to have a caregiver 24/7 and his wife along with some family and friends will have to stay with him. They will also have to bring along their fur babies so they have to have a place that will be pet friendly. The medications also will be expensive that he will be on to keep his body from trying to reject the new liver. Him and his family don't like to ask for help but I want to come together and try to lighten the financial burden so that he can get his much needed liver transplant and live a healthy life. This man has been a help to so many and doesn't ask for anything in return. Him and his wife have been father and mother figures to me and my husband and are Nana and PopPop to my little girl.
