My name is Timka Velagic, and I am 53 years old. I was born in Bosnia and lived through the war while pregnant with my first son, Damir. Even during those difficult times, becoming a mother gave me purpose and strength. A few years later, I had my second son, Dino, who was born with a disability. Caring for my boys has never felt like a burden—it has been the greatest love and purpose of my life. In 1999, I moved to Seattle to build a better future for my family. Starting over wasn’t easy, but taking care of my husband and my children has always been what brings me the most joy. Making sure they are safe, loved, and supported is what I have dedicated my life to.
At the beginning of 2025, I started feeling a deep pain in my stomach that wouldn’t go away. After many doctor visits and being told it was related to my blood pressure, I finally got answers—I was diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer. Since then, I have gone through seven rounds of chemotherapy. I continue to fight every day, holding onto hope with everything I have. I want to keep being here for my family—the people who mean everything to me.
Right now, I am doing everything I can to fight this with both traditional and holistic care. I am currently receiving holistic IV treatments in Bellevue, Washington at clinics like Holistique Medical Center and IVitality Bellevue, where therapies are focused on strengthening my immune system, supporting my body at a cellular level, and helping me stay strong during treatment. These IV therapies are personalized and designed to support healing alongside everything else I am going through. The next step I am hoping for is a 3-week intensive holistic treatment program in Cancun, Mexico. This program focuses on integrative cancer care—supporting the body through therapies that aim to improve quality of life, strengthen the immune system, and give me the best possible chance to keep fighting. The funds we are raising will go directly toward the treatment program in Cancun, airfare and travel expenses, ongoing holistic IV treatments and supportive care in Bellevue, and medical-related expenses during this time.
This journey is not easy, but I am doing everything I can to keep going—for my family, for my children, and for more time with the people I love.
