For Tim Stoffel, known to so many as Timba, Sierra Safari Zoo has been more than a place to volunteer. Timba has spent many years and thousands of hours caring for the big cats there, sharing stories, knowledge, and a deep love for the animals with everyone lucky enough to meet him. If anyone has visited Sierra Safari Zoo in Reno, there is a good chance they have seen Timba working with the large cats and giving so much of himself to the zoo community. Timba is a longtime friend and someone who has touched many lives through his kindness, dedication, and passion.

Recently, Timba lost his home and his two cats in the Hawk Fire. He was at work when the evacuation came and was unable to get home to save any belongings or bring his cats to safety. Now, at 65, Timba has been left with only the clothes on his back and his car as he faces the heartbreaking loss of his home and his two best friends. Donations will help Timba secure housing and begin rebuilding his life after this devastating tragedy.
