Help Tim With Sudden Medical Bills

Tim and Katana here. Tim went to pick up our marriage certificate from the courthouse in SLO. He was riding back to our home in Grover Beach heading south on the 101 freeway when his motorcycle chained snapped off.

Tim felt it and quickly lifted his leg, preventing it severing an artery or worse, taking off his leg. The chain peppered the side of the motorcycle, eventually getting caught and locking the back wheel. He started fishtailing into traffic and tried his best to lean towards the dirt by the center divider as he lost control of the bike. He span out and flipped a couple times as he and the bike went down. We are so lucky that he did not land in front of the cars.

He refused the ambulance ride because it's too expensive, and the officer on the scene very generously gave Tim a ride home. The trashed motorcycle was towed home for a couple hundred dollars. Tim called me and I rushed home from work as fast as I could.

I see Tim, he is hobbling while he walks towards me and explains me that it hurts to take a deep breathe. He has road rash and bloody gashes all over him in spots like his nose, hips, back, ankles. There's holes torn on his tank top. My heart sinks. And I'm trying to hold back tears. I insist we go to the hospital.

At the hospital, they scanned his chest. He has blunt force trauma to the chest and soft tissue damage. The gash on his back is the deepest and hurts the worst as it's cleaned up. The doctor said he got really lucky, especially with the local recent deaths of motorcycle accidents. We are handed the bill, it's $2400. I start crying all over again.

Getting the phone call, watching Tim struggle as he is in pain, hearing what happened, and now this hefty medical bill on top of the fact that Tim has no transportation and will be bed ridden for the next few days... It's emotionally overwhelming, and this is hard to do but we are deciding to reach out for help.

We are not expecting this goal to be met but any little bit would help. This amount will help to pay for the tow truck, the medical bill and towards transportation for a car as soon as possible so he is able to get to work, as the motorcycle was his only transportation. Thank you for thinking of us.
