HELP TIM STAY AFLOAT AFTER LEG INJURY
Donation protected
My best friend Tim (or Timmee as the OG’s call him) had a really bad accident recently and not only was uninsured but is also missing work now during his long road of recovery following surgery. He is an incredibly talented chef and is weeks away from a new height in his career: assisting in the opening of a new restaurant with his team from Lazy Betty. I am sharing this in hopes that we all can get together and close this gap between wage losses and hospital bills for him, so that he can focus on his new shiny future with Juniper Cafe.
In Tim’s own words: “Three weeks ago, I had the most unfortunate series of events. While visiting two of my best friends outside of ATL and spending some well-deserved time in nature, I fell accidentally and severely broke my leg: the fibia, tibula, ankle, and several toes. It was incredibly painful, and my girlfriend and friend rushed me late into the night to Hillandale ER. The facility triaged me for a few hours and then sent me home, telling me to call an orthopedic surgeon on my own time. The next day was Labor Day, and no surgeons answered my call. I finally got an appointment later in the week, and when I met the next doctor, they told me they could not believe Hillandale ER failed to admit me and get me prepared for surgery immediately based on the serious threat my injuries presented. Within a few hours of meeting doctor Number 2, I was rushed to Grady Memorial Hospital and in surgery. I now have a rod through my knee, down my leg and four screws in my fibula. Unfortunately, I have been out of work for about three weeks so far and have the bills keep piling up. I have been doing physical therapy since my surgery about two weeks ago, and I was able to put 50 percent of my weight on my leg this week. It’s going to be a long road, but I am working on recovering day by day.”
